About Norman Rockwell · 1894–1978

The artist who

Born in New York City in 1894, Norman Rockwell painted his first cover for The Saturday Evening Post in 1916, and 321 more over the next 47 years. He moved to Arlington, Vermont, in 1939, and to Stockbridge, Massachusetts, in 1953.

Every painting began long before the brush. Rockwell planned each scene and made preliminary sketches, then photographed his models and props. From those photographs came a charcoal drawing, a color sketch and, finally, the painting.

A note from Chrissy

Chrissy Fichtl, Founder of APOTHEKE

“Every holiday season, my mother would bring out her Norman Rockwell plates, and just seeing those familiar scenes again, the same ones we looked forward to all year, meant the holidays had truly begun. That feeling of comfort and familiarity has stayed with me my whole life, and it’s exactly what we set out to bottle with this collection.

Working with Norman Rockwell’s artwork wasn’t just a creative collaboration for me. It was a chance to share the same sense of warmth and nostalgia that made the holidays so special growing up, poured into scent.”
