It's no secret that plants make your home feel alive and vibrant. Even though I've mismanaged my fair share of windowsill gardens (rest in peace, snake plant I bought in college), I know that I simply can't live without a bit of green.

While fancy plants can run upwards of literally thousands of dollars, I've picked up a few tricks over the years to keep my spaces feeling fresh and alive without blowing the bank.

1. GO BIG (WHILE SPENDING SMALL)

The one thing you didn't know you needed? A statement plant. I've had the same parlor palm in my living room for years, and I only spent $15 on it at IKEA. The nice yucca in my backyard? That came from good old Home Depot. It's absolutely possible to get over sized, quality plants for reasonable prices so do some shopping around!

2. REGROW YOUR KITCHEN SCRAPS

We've mentioned this before, but it's so easy and fun to regrow things like scallions, mushrooms, and even avocados! My kids love to help out with this little experiment, and I've got to say it's pretty satisfying to save a couple bucks at the grocery store. There are tons of tutorials online, so check them out!

3. USE AN EARTHY FRAGRANCE

Sometimes keeping plants alive is a little challenging. We've all spoiled a succulent or two, so I've invested a lot of time and energy into creating lively, earthy fragrances that brighten every room in your home (and don't require any watering). Burn a Bamboo votive, light up a White Vetiver 3-Wick, or reach for a stunning Tomato Tarragon Candle if you really want the scent of a fresh summer garden.

4. BUY BOUQUETS FREELY

When was the last time some one brought you flowers? Too long! The good news is you're a grown woman and you don't need a prom date to bring you a bouquet. The next time you're walking past a florist, or even just strolling through the grocery store, pick up something pretty for yourself.

If you want something that lasts a little longer than vase full of tulips, might I suggestion a Magnolia Bouquet diffuser?

5. KEEP THE FRUIT BOWL STOCKED

Your house looks infinitely brighter with bowl full of oranges, bananas, and the occasion papaya (when you're feeling extra fancy). Leave those fruits out on display to keep things healthy and lively in the kitchen. It really does make a difference, both for your aesthetic and your health.

Everyone needs a little nature in their life. Living in dense, urban spaces can be deeply anxiety inducing, so the next time you feel like redecorating, don't forget the plants!
